Hello,

I was working long time with Version 6.35 and updated to 9.30 a couple of days ago.

Some features of the old version I can't find in the new one:

- right click context menu (right click panning is ok but no menu).
- I find no Camera settings (Wide lens, standard lens, telelens and so on).
- light-coordinates which were also accessable by right click context menu.
- The underwater hull is not shaded even though "shade underwater" is checked in the project settings.

I have to say, that I'm using delftship under Linux/wine so I am not sure, if those missing features are due to this wine environment or if they have been erased in the new version.
Everything else is working well under wine.

Best regards
Stefan

Hi,
I believe, unfortunately, that you are correct that these features are missing, except possibly the shaded underwater portion. Have you also specified a color for the underwater portion? I, too, miss the right click menu.

OK, thanks for your reply.
Yes I specified the underwater colour but no effect.

I know, - same way as it worked in the old version 6.35.
In my installation of version 9.30 the hull is shaded uniform instead.
Perhaps it' has something to do with Linux/wine.

For the underwater color problem, you can also check the following:
  • Is there a draft specified in Project settings -> Main particulars? If not, enter a meaningful value and see if the color changes.
  • Does the vessel have a displacement? If not and you have a draft specified, then check first that the layers making up your underwater hull are checked in the Hydrostatics column of the layers dialog. Check again displacement. If still zero, then your submerged surfaces might have the normals pointing away from the water, i.e. inside. They will be displayed in the color assigned to the layer they are part of, not the one assigned to Shade underwater. Flip them to outside and see whether that changes something. Only surfaces pointing to the water and submerged according to the specified draft will be displayed in the color assigned to Shade underwater.

Thanks a lot Claudio!
I once more checked all the items you mentioned in your post but everything was already correct.
You know, all my models were created under v6.35 and they all have the correct underwater shading when loaded in the old program.

I'm still using an old version, but it seems to me there was, too, a box to check to have the underwater surfaces shaded...

HomoSapiensNavalis' question is relevant but you didn't answered: Does the vessel have a displacement, check for the answer in the analysis report. If there's no displacement, there's nothing to show.

Did you choose a different color to show the underwater surface?

As I said: I checked all items that Claudio mentioned.
- The ship has a displacement,
- the normals a showing towards the water,
- there is a correct draught in the project settings,
- "shade underwater" is also checked and a colour is chosen.

All my models have the correct underwater shading in v6.35, so I suppose it is not a matter of an individual model.

I'm sorry you haven't had any luck so far. Have you tried changing the underwater shading color? Does changing the color of layers work? Maybe the Wine implementation of the color dialog has issues.

Have you tried making a simple model file from scratch like a pontoon or opening one of the example files?
